Sadly, we will be cancelling our 24th Annual Safe Communities Festival at Rowland Heights Community Park this year due to the wet weather. We hope to re-convene next year for our 25th Annual Safe Communities Festival in the Spring of 2017.

CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN
The community is invited to attend the 24th annual Safe Communities Health and Safety Festival on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rowland Heights Community Park. The festival celebrates the role all facets of the community play in promoting a safe, secure and healthy environment for all to enjoy. The Safe Communities Festival will feature more than 25 health and safety information booths, entertainment, food and game booths, public safety displays and demonstrations by community groups, Rowland Unified schools and public service organizations. Public safety displays include “Shakey Quakey” and a “JAWS of Life” demonstration from the California Highway Patrol.
The official program kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with Masters of Ceremony Deputy Louis Denver, from the Diamond Bar/Walnut Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. There will also be a presentation of two $250 service awards for students from Rowland and Nogales High Schools for their community service work.
The Festival comes as the conclusion of the community-wide celebration of Safe Communities Week, April 4 - 9, 2016. The event is sponsored by Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe’s Office, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department/Southeast Recreation District, California Highway Patrol – Santa Fe Springs Office, Operation Safe Community, the Rowland Unified School District and the Rowland Unified School District Safety and Drug Alcohol Tobacco Education (DATE) Program.
